Why Bother?

Why write clearly? Why create effective, powerful words that communicate effectively? Why indeed!

Unless you're a government bureaucrat or tobacco company scientist trying to slip a fast one over by being deliberately obscure, bad writing is a waste of your time. If you don't write clearly, then you might as well not write at all. Fuzzy writing reflects fuzzy thinking. It wastes your time and annoys those struggling to read it.

You doom your every idea, no matter how wonderful and world-changing, when you shroud it in unclear writing.

The death sentence for your writing can condemn your career, your academic performance, your great novel, that letter to the editor and even your complaint to the Public Utilities Commission asking for help with telemarketers.
